Clear & Helpful Answers

Frequently Asked
Questions

  • For most adults, a comprehensive eye exam is recommended every one to two years depending on age, risk factors, and whether you currently wear corrective lenses. However, if you have underlying conditions like diabetes or high blood pressures, our doctors may suggest more frequent visits to monitor your retinal health. At Dublin Eye Associates, we use advanced diagnostic technology to ensure your prescription is precise and your eyes are healthy.

  • Yes. We understand that eye emergencies- like sudden redness, pain, or “pink eye”- can be alarming. Dublin Eye Associates prioritizes urgent care appointments for patients in the Dublin and Middle Georgia area. If you are experiencing a sudden change in vision or an eye injury, please call our office immediately so we can get you in to see one of our specialists.

  • While both are essential to your vision health, they offer different levels of care. An Optometrist (OD) focuses on primary vision care, including eye exams and fitting lenses. An Ophthalmologist (MD) is a medical doctor who specializes in the total medical and surgical care of the eyes. Because our office includes both types of specialists, we can provide everything from your annual contact lens exam to complex surgical procedures like cataract removal right here in Dublin.

  • Most patients realize it’s time for a consultation when cataracts begin to interfere with daily activities. Common signs include difficulty driving at night )due to glare or halos around headlights), colors appearing faded or “yellowed,” and needing more light to read. If your glasses prescription is changing frequently but your vision still doesn’t feel sharp, it may be time for surgery.

  • Generally, the best candidates for LASIK are at least 18 years old, have stable vision prescription for at least one year, and have healthy corneas. During a consultation at Dublin Eye Associates, we use advanced mapping technology to measure your corneal thickness and shape. If LASIK isn’t the right fit for you, our doctors also specialize in alternatives like PRK or Refractive Lens Exchange, ensuring everyone has a path to clearer vision.

  • We are a medical eye care facility, which means we accept most major medical insurances and Medicaid, but we do not participate in vision-only insurance networks.

Most of our patients find that their medical insurance covers the majority of their visit, especially when addressing specific concerns like blurry vision or eye discomfort. If you are coming in strictly for a routine glasses update and have a vision-only plan, please give us a call at (478) 272-5933- we can provide a clear self-pay rate or help you determine if your medical insurance can be used instead.

  • Our on-site Optical Shop offers a curated selection of designer frames and high-quality lenses. While we do not participate in vision-only insurance networks, many of our patients choose to shop with us because we offer specialized lens technology- including premium anti-glare and digital progressives- that standard vision plans often restrict.

How it works: You can pay for your eyewear directly and we will provide you with a detailed, itemized receipt. Most vision plans allow you to submit this for “Out-of-Network” reimbursement, which often covers a significant portion of your purchase. We also welcome the use of HSA and FSA cards for all prescription eyewear and sunglasses!
